LIFE SAVING!! LIFE CHANGING!! My 17 year old son went into the Children's Hospital inpatient program at the Lender Center of Hope from September 20th to October 16th 2018. I can't thank all those involved in my son's care. The entire Team was amazing. Jen, his Team leader and nurse psychiatrist was absolutely fantastic!! She listened to all our concerns, kept in contact with me, and made my son feel comfortable and secure during his stay. They also worked with his school to make the transition back easier. His social worker Brandy did a great job coordinating all of his family visits and after care etc. So many I want to thank, but can't remember them all. Thanks to Jessica, Mr McCormick, Kim, Angie and so many more. I truly feel like this event will help my son's life for the better. If anyone is debating whether or not to send your child there, then please reconsider! Their lives depend on it! Thanks again to everyone involved in my son's care! Best place I've been. The nurse's, doctor and staff really care. It runs the way a clinic should be. Very professionally ran 🏃 the way it should be, but you need to come to dose daily or at least every other day. Otherwise you get 1/2 your dose. It's state law once a person misses 3 consecutive days.

My child was in the partial hospitalization program for 9 days. She found it helpful. Staff was pleasant,knowledgeable and responsive to questions and concerns. We left with a lot of good written and practical information for the road ahead. I would give this program 5 stars. About a year prior to that, my child was in the adolescent unit for 4 days. During that time, the doctor changed all her medications without speaking to me or her outpatient provider. It was not a positive change at all. She never saw a counselor, although staff was always present and generally helpful. After she was released, neither I not my child's outpatient provider received any records or discharge summary. Trying to get information over the phone is an exercise in futility. I and her provider tried multiple times to get the needed information and neither even received a return call. Don't leave without all the paperwork you need! So basically, staff on site is very good, all seem genuinely concerned and willing to communicate. The inpatient unit needs to get their procedures together and provide information to parents and outside providers. This is what knocks the rating down.

We recently needed a medical record issue resolved that went way beyond the medical records department. We were lucky enough to reach Melissa, in medical records. She immediately took our problem and made it her own. She came back to us with a professional, empathetic ear, and resolved our issue within an unbelievably short time period. We appreciate her effort and hope she is recognized regularly for her positive customer service skills! She has certainly made our journey easier.

This place offers a beautiful therapeutic environment and wonderful compassionate staff. My son has been well-served by the outpatient services.

My experience there was great! They gave me good coping methods, but I have been there twice and am STILL suicidal. They can't fix me only change my medications numerous times. Mr.Ryan, who is one of the workers there, is my favorite. He helped me tremendously throughout BOTH of my admissions. He is the reason I am still here today. My family doesn't do anything in the home agreement, but Mr.Ryan helped me cope with that. Thank you so much, Mr. Ryan. I hope you have the best life possible.

I was an inpatient in the adult unit last year at LCOH as a result of severe depression and anxiety. A week earlier, I had spent a week at OSU Harding Hospital in Columbus for the same reasons. Comparably speaking, OSU Harding is like a state penitentiary. I left there modestly improved with respect to my anxiety but without any improvement in my severe depression and my chronic undiagnosed OCD. I left in an absolute psychiatric drug-induced mental fog from the medication changes made while there. Harding Hospital was a renowned psychiatric hospital for nearly a century until OSU acquired it around 2000. It was then re-located to the OSU campus. It is a sterile facility (prison-like) with some (one is too many) mental health technicians who treat patients with contempt and constant suspicion. There was graffiti in my shower, shared rooms, and awful food with limited selection. It's also a rather rough population at OSU Harding, though the psychotic patients (e.g., schizophrenia) are separated on a different floor from those with depression and anxiety. Simply put, it's not a very therapeutic environment for many patients who are already at the lowest point in their lives. On a positive note, the nurses were pretty good thrre. I could go on and on about the non-therapeutic nature of that facility but, instead, want to focus on LCOH. By contrast, LCOH is the antithesis of OSU Harding. I was there for 3 weeks. I had an incredibly talented psychiatrist there. Besides treating my obvious depression and anxiety, she diagnosed my OCD during our first meeting. She always listened and asked pertinent questions, made necessary corrective changes to my medications, and, most importantly, was truly caring and compassionate. I trusted her from our very first visit. What was impressive about LCOH is that you meet with your social worker, one of the nurses, psychiatrist, and even the recreational therapist on the first full day so that they can get to know you. It's a lot of meetings in your room on your first full day (with a lot of repetitive conversation) but it's a team approach there. I really felt safe and cared about at LCOH from the moment I arrived for the admission intake. The facility itself is like a very nice college dormitory. There is color on the walls, pictures, comfortable furniture, etc. It is always clean. Patients also have their own private room with bathroom, shower, desk, and window. And, the food there is well above average. There are chefs who prepare the food, with 4-5 entree choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (with gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions). The food is served on actual plates and silverware. By most any standard, the food is really good and nicely presented. Frankly, most people don't eat that well in their regular daily lives. But, unfortunately, when one is severely depressed, many do not want to consume even good food. Additionally, there is a library with hundreds of books, and a television room with a big screen television. There's also a very nice gym with basketball courts and weight/recreational equipment available to patients. The outside grounds are beautiful for those with permission to go outside. LCOH provides an incredible therapeutic environment for facilitating mental health. Besides my psychiatrist and the excellent facilities, the nursing staff is unbelievably uplifting, knowledgeable, and caring. There were 3 or 4 nurses in particular that I found to be very approachable and comfortable talking to about my illness. None of the supporting mental health technicians or specialists I encountered treated me in an undignified manner. My social worker was fantastic, too. This was the complete opposite experience than the one at OSU Harding. If you feel that your life is hopeless, definitely consider LCOH for quality and compassionate mental health treatment.

This place saves lives and makes them better. I am grateful for their staff and their knowledge and care.

Best place I ever been involved with. They take the time to listen and work very closely with your issues. The outpatient program after inpatient care was above and beyond my expectations!!! Finally a place that treats you like a human being and not a insurance claim!!!
